The tSTAT335 is a microcontroller controlled temperature
regulator for continuous flow cryostats, which use liquid nitrogen or helium as
coolant. Technical parameters of regulators are quoted in the tables for
microscope cryostat.
The controller unit regulates the sample temperature in the
range from 77.4 K up to 300 K. This unit controls the heater power at the sample
holder as well as the nitrogen gas flow rate regulated by heater power within
the storage dewar. The controller unit also has an integrated watch dog for the
liquid nitrogen level.
For the temperature measurement a NiCr:Ni thermocouple is
used. The reference junction is build by an electronically ice-point
compensation. The controller unit tSTAT335 has a remote control capability via a
serial RS-232 interface.

You can control the unit and obtain the actual status and settings by simple
plain text commands. The remote control gives you an opportunity to use
the cryostat in conjunction with computer-controlled measurements.
How the temperature controller works
The set value can be given either as thermo power (in µV)
or directly as temperature (in Kelvin). It can be set manually with the keys in
the control panel or remote via the serial RS-232
interface.
